Frequently Asked Questions
Sizing, shipping, materials, care, and how ordering through our Etsy shop actually works. If your question is not here, just ask.
How the shop works
Can I buy directly from this site?
Not from this page. Every order goes through our Etsy shop, which handles checkout, payment, tracking, and support. This site is where the designs, the stories, and the process live. When you find the one you want, the "Order on Etsy" button on any product page takes you straight to that exact listing.
Why Etsy instead of your own checkout?
PrintedStuffForYou is a one-person studio in Los Angeles. Etsy lets a tiny shop run secure payments, returns, and buyer protection without building an entire operation around it. That leaves more time for the part that matters: making designs worth wearing. There is more on that in the story behind the shop.
Is the Etsy shop the same shop as this site?
Same shop, same designs, same person behind it. Nothing on Etsy is missing here and nothing here is a mockup. If a design is on this site, it is live on Etsy.
Do I need an Etsy account to order?
You can check out on Etsy as a guest with a card or PayPal. An account just makes tracking and messaging easier if you plan to order again.
Shipping and delivery
How long until my order arrives?
Every item is made to order, so there are two clocks: production, typically 2 to 5 business days, and shipping, which depends on where you are. The Etsy listing shows a live delivery estimate for your address at checkout, and that estimate is the one to trust.
Do you ship internationally?
International delivery windows and any customs charges are shown on the Etsy listing before you pay. Import duties, where they apply, are the buyer's responsibility.
Where does my order ship from?
Designs are made in Los Angeles, but apparel, mugs, and stickers are produced by print partners and ship from the facility handling that production run. That usually keeps transit times shorter than shipping every parcel out of LA.
How do I track my order?
Tracking is issued by Etsy once your item leaves production, and it lands in your Etsy account and your email. We do not run a separate tracking system on this site.
Can I get it by a specific date?
Check the delivery estimate on the Etsy listing first, then message the shop before ordering if the date is tight. Made to order means there is no shelf to pull from, so a rush needs a heads up rather than a checkbox.
What about holiday cutoffs?
December fills up fast on both the production and the carrier side. As a rule of thumb, order milestone and holiday gifts two to three weeks ahead. Exact cutoff dates get posted on the Etsy shop announcement each season.
Returns and problems
What if my order arrives damaged or misprinted?
Message us through the Etsy order and include a photo. Print defects, damage in transit, and wrong items get replaced. That is the whole policy, no argument needed.
Can I return something because I changed my mind?
Because each piece is printed only after you order it, we do not take change of mind returns. It is worth checking the size guide and the color list on the listing before you order.
I ordered the wrong size. What now?
Message the shop through Etsy as soon as you notice. If the order has not entered production yet, it can usually be corrected. Once it is printed, it cannot be unprinted.
My package says delivered but it is not here.
Give it 48 hours, because carriers scan early more often than people expect, then open a message on the Etsy order and we will chase the carrier with you.
Sizing and fit
How does the sizing run?
The tees are unisex and cut as a modern retail fit, so they are true to size but slimmer through the body than a boxy classic tee. If you are between sizes, or you want a roomier drape, size up. Every product page has a size guide with chest and length measurements.
Is there a women's cut?
The current range is unisex rather than a separate women's cut. Plenty of buyers size down one for a closer fit, or stay true to size for the oversized look.
What sizes do you carry?
Most designs run S through 3XL. The exact size list for a given design is shown on its product page, since availability varies by color and by blank.
Will the shirt shrink?
The fabric is pre-shrunk, so a cold wash and a low tumble dry will hold the fit. Hot water and a high dryer setting are what cause real shrinkage, on our shirts and everyone else's.
Do the colors look the same in person?
Close, but screens vary. Product photos are shot to be as true as we can get them, and garment color names like Asphalt, Steel Blue, and Pebble Brown are the manufacturer's own.
Care and durability
How do I wash it without wrecking the print?
Cold water, inside out, tumble dry low. Skip the bleach and do not iron directly over the printed area. Treated that way, the design outlasts the trend that inspired it.
Will the print crack or peel?
The apparel prints are direct to garment, so the ink sits in the fibers rather than as a plastic layer on top. It fades gracefully with the shirt instead of flaking off the way a heat transfer does.
Can I tumble dry on high or iron the design?
Better not to. High heat is what kills prints. Low and slow keeps it sharp.
Materials and how it is made
What are the shirts made of?
It depends on the color. Solids are 100 percent Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton. Ash and the Heather Prism shades are 99 percent cotton and 1 percent polyester. Athletic Heather and Black Heather are 90 and 10. The other heathers are 52 and 48, which is what gives them that flecked look. Fabric weight is 4.2 oz per square yard across the range. Combed and ring-spun means the short fibers are stripped out before spinning, which is why the fabric feels broken in from the first wear rather than the tenth.
Are the shirts see-through?
Worth knowing before you order: at 4.2 oz this is a light, soft tee rather than a heavyweight one, and the fabric can read slightly sheer in the lighter colors or under strong light. It is the trade-off that makes it comfortable in summer. If you want more coverage, the darker colors are the safer pick.
What does "made to order" actually mean?
Nothing is printed until someone buys it. No warehouse of unsold shirts, no end of season landfill run. The trade-off is a production window instead of same day dispatch, which feels like a fair deal.
What printing method do you use?
Direct to garment ink on apparel, and sharp digital printing on mugs and stickers. Both are chosen for color accuracy on detailed artwork.
Are the materials safe and responsibly sourced?
Ceramic mugs are lead-free and BPA-free. The tee blanks are sourced from Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, or the US depending on the run, then printed on demand, so made to order production means effectively zero overproduction waste.
Mugs
What sizes do the mugs come in?
Most designs are offered in 11 oz and 15 oz. The sizes available for a specific mug are listed on its product page.
Are they dishwasher and microwave safe?
Yes to both. The ceramic and the print are built for daily use, not for display.
Stickers
Are the stickers waterproof?
They are glossy vinyl with a scratch resistant finish, made for indoor life: laptops, planners, notebooks, name tags, student work. They are not rated for long term outdoor weather.
What size are they?
Sizes vary by design and are listed on each product page. The teacher collection stickers are sized to sit on marked work and planner pages without swallowing them.
Can I peel and reposition one?
They are single use. Apply to a clean, dry surface and they hold. Peel one off and the adhesive is spent.
Gifts, custom work, and getting in touch
What is the Life In Numbers birthday range?
Milestone tees covering ages 40 through 95, each printed with the fun statistics of a life that long: the heartbeats, the sunrises, the cups of coffee. They tend to get read out loud at the party, which is the point. Browse the birthday shirts.
Can I send it straight to the recipient?
Yes. Enter their address as the shipping address on Etsy and add a note at checkout. Because nothing on this site shows pricing, it stays a clean gift.
Can you make a custom or personalized design?
Sometimes, depending on the request and the queue. Send the idea through the shop with what it is for and when you need it. Small tweaks to an existing design are far more doable than a brand new one from scratch.
Do you do bulk or team orders?
Bulk is possible for events, bands, teams, and classrooms. Message first with quantity, sizes, and your date, since lead times for bulk are longer than for single orders.
Can I resell or reprint a design?
No. The designs are original and stay copyrighted to PrintedStuffForYou. Buying the shirt buys the shirt.
How do I reach a human?
Everything runs through the Etsy shop: hit the Contact button on the shop page for design ideas, collaborations, and general questions. For anything about an existing order, message from the order itself, since that is where the order details live. The contact page walks through it.
Still stuck?
Questions about an existing order are fastest through the Etsy message thread on that order. Anything else - design ideas, bulk requests, collaborations - goes through the Contact button on the shop page.
